STANLIB, Standard Bank of South Africa's asset management operation, has launched the Standard South Africa Equity fund and the Standard Africa Equity fund.
The Standard Africa fund invests in up to 16 African equity markets across the continent. It will initially have its major holdings in Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria and Kenya, but there will be other holdings in lesser known markets, such as Botswana and Ghana. The fund will also invest in shares of companies not listed on African exchanges but which derive the majority of their turnover and profits from Africa.
