More than 62% of the UK population are expecting an expensive retirement, although 71% have no stock market investment, a survey by Halifax ShareBuilder Index shows. According to the survey, around 81% of individuals in their 20s have no stock market investment. This could mean that unless people take an active role in saving at an early age, they may not have saved enough to meet their expectations on retirement.
