New Star's Chris Burling, head of Japan equities, has taken over as manager of its Japan Recovery fund.
Burling replaces Michelle Saunders who will now concentrate on her hedge fund. He will manage the Japan Recovery fund with Andrew Gibbs. The pair will follow a five-step investment process which involves narrowing the stock universe to 250 companies, undertaking fundamental analysis to explore valuations and prospects, identifying catalysts for medium-term performance, selecting the stocks with greatest ‘breakout’ potential and employing risk controls to determine the final composition.
