John Husselbee, the fund of hedge fund manager who left Henderson last month in a frenzy of speculation about his future, has announced his next move - he will be establishing a boutique fund management operation under the auspices of Neptune Investment Management.
The new organisation is expected to open in August and, although wholly owned by Neptune, Neptune's founder Robin Geffen said Husselbee would have free rein over developing the company's product range. It is understood that Husselbee has been given a substantial equity stake in the firm.
Husselbee's last venture into funds of hedge funds was at Hendersons, with the Global Investors' Absolute Return Portfolio. This ill-starred fund suffered an activist-led winding up by London outfit Carrousel.
