Fitzrovia has revealed there are significant variations in the way hedge funds' charges are structured other than the standard 2% annual fee plus a 20% performance fee. Around one-third of alternative investment funds have a performance fee other than 20%. Fitzrovia said 18% have a hurdle rate in which a performance fee is only paid when a fund exceeds a risk-free rate and 87% use a high watermark.
