Platinum Capital Management has launched a global dividend fund that is designed to produce steady returns in all market conditions. The portfolio invests in global companies that pay high dividends as Peter Sprecher, chairman of Platinum Capital believes these stocks will outperform those that do not distribute some of their profits with its shareholders.
Companies that Sprecher will be on the look out for include those that have a sustainable and progressive dividend and are cash rich in their balance sheets. Businesses must have a low risk profile and not be subject to any environmental, legal or pension issues. In addition, the industry must be easy to understand and meet basic customer needs.
Risk is controlled in the portfolio through bottom up research of individual positions and careful portfolio construction. There will be between 30-45 positions in the fund with never more than 8% in one stock.
