Guido Bicocchi has joined the growth capital team of Aberdeen Asset Managers Private Equity in Glasgow. He was previously a senior executive in the corporate and structured finance division of the Royal Bank of Scotland. The growth capital team has also recruited Ed Coombs for its London office. Coombs was formerly a partner in a corporate finance boutique in London.

From: Deloitte and Touche
Anglo Irish Trust Company has appointed Eve Wilson as a trust manager in the Isle of Man. Before joining, Wilson spent five years with Deloitte and Touche in the Grand Cayman. After graduating from Dundee University with a degree in accountancy and finance, Wilson joined Coopers & Lybrand in Edinburgh, where she qualified as a chartered accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland.

Promoted: BlueBay Asset Management
BlueBay Asset Management has named Alex Khein to the newly created role of chief operating officer. He has joined Hugh Willis (chief executive), Mark Poole (chief investment officer) and Nicholas Williams (chief financial officer) on BlueBay's management committee. Khein joined BlueBay in June 2004 as head of structured products and has developed funds, such as contracts for difference, derivatives and low leverage products, across its range of asset classes.

From: Deutsche Asset Management
F&C Asset Management has recruited a team of five UK equity fund managers from Deutsche Asset Management. Peter Lees, formerly head of UK equities at Deutsche, has taken on the same role at F&C. Also moving with Lees are Phil Doel, Luke Newman, Makis Kaketsis and Michael Ulrich. Lees will be responsible for implementing the team's UK equity process across institutional client mandates and UK equity growth funds.

Promoted: Goldman Sachs Asset Management
All have been promoted to managing director by Goldman Sachs Asset Management. They are involved in private equity, active currency management, fundamental active equity, quantitative resources and fixed income. The asset manager said they had been promoted as a result of the growth of its business in Europe.

From: Merrill Lynch
Patrick Merville has been appointed deputy regional manager and head of institutional sales for the Middle East at Man Investments. He was previously a director at Merrill Lynch in London for six years, first as an institutional salesman of emerging market equities and then in the hedge fund brokerage sales group.

From: Gartmore Investment Management
Mike Boardman has joined Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (MLIM) as director of retail operations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea). He reports to Manoj Khosla, head of operations at Emea Pacific. Boardman has moved from Gartmore, where he was chief operating officer, European retail, with responsibility for operations and outsourced relationships across its non-US business. He was also involved in product development and Gartmore's acquisition of Govett's business.

Promoted: New Star Asset Management
Stephen Whittaker has been named joint chief investment officer of New Star Asset Manager. Whittaker, who will continue to manage the New Star UK Growth fund, will work alongside Alan Miller, who is also chief investment officer. New Star, which has announced its intention to float on the UK's Aim index before the end of 2005, has grown to $24.7bn in assets under management, including its seven Dublin-based offshore funds.

To: Pioneer Investments
Pioneer Investments has hired Cathy Brand as head of international strategic product management and development. Brand will be supported by a team of five product managers covering European equities, European fixed income, US equity, US fixed income and alternative investments from Boston, Dublin and London. She reports to Matteo Perruccio, global head of sales and distribution at Pioneer. Brand was previously at Citigroup, where she was responsible for international product development.

Promoted: Standard Bank
David Bushe has been appointed to oversee business development at Standard Bank. This will include Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and parts of Africa. Bushe will also be responsible for developing Standard Bank's business in the Isle of Man where he is based.

To: Thames River Capital
From: Gartmore Investment Management
Glyn Jones has been named chief executive officer of Thames River Capital. Co-founder Charlie Porter becomes president as a result of Jones' recruitment. The other founder, Jonathan Hughes-Morgan, remains managing director. Thames River said one of Jones' first roles will be to review the growth options for the asset manager. Thames River has also hired Nic Karageorgis as an assistant fund manager in its fund of hedge funds team.

To: Threadneedle Investments
From: Credit Suisse Asset Management
Threadneedle Investments has recruited Leigh Harrison to a new role of head of UK retail investments. Harrison will have responsibility for the performance of all Threadneedle retail products that invest in UK equities and takes over the management of the Threadneedle UK Equity Income fund. Chris White, the current manager of Threadneedle UK Equity Income, will become manager of a new fund to be launched in 2006. Harrison reports to Michael Taylor, head of UK equities at Threadneedle.

From: Charles Stanley
Walbrook Group has appointed Mark Carlile as its first director of human resources. He was previously head of human resources at private client stockbrokers Charles Stanley. At Walbrook, Carlile will plan, develop and implement human resources strategy for Walbrook's Guernsey, Jersey and Isle of Man operations.He reports to Walbrook Group deputy chief executive Gavin St Pier.
