Ex-Sesame commercial director Martin Davis joins Zurich International Life this month as its new head. The company's primary offshore business is the provision of life, pension and investment products and services for expatriates and international investors.
The company's bases are in the Isle of Man, Channel Islands, Hong Kong, London, Luxembourg, the Middle East and Zurich. It provides tax-efficient investment opportunities and life assurance products for international investors and expatriates of many nationalities through its offshore Isle of Man base.
As part of this service, Zurich has developed a close relationship with Threadneedle to offer its customers 30 investment funds and three Guaranteed Accumulation funds managed by Threadneedle. These are arranged into three groups: low, managed and specialist.
The low risk funds invest in money markets and fixed interest securities denominated in sterling, dollar, euro and other currencies. Managed funds provide exposure to global stock markets and offers investors three levels of funds, carrying different levels of risk. The specialists funds meet the needs of the more experienced investors who are prepared to take a higher risk for potentially higher returns.
Other products available to international investors include the Vista Retirement plan, Elite International Bond, Supra Savings and Investment plan and the Supra Education Fees plan. Vista offers a flexible retirement package designed to international investors as holders can choose from a range of investment funds and investment strategies for their retirement. Elite is a lump sum bond that gives investors a choice of managed investments. Supra can be tailored to meet individual needs and payments can be carried out in any freely convertible currency and investments can include guaranteed funds as well as unit-linked funds. Investors can use the Supra Education Fees plan to save for their children's education.
Zurich also offers investors international investors protection plans. The Futura Lifetime Protection plan, for example, is a whole of life insurance policy that pays a lump sum to a nominated beneficiary upon death. The International Wealth Account, available to Hong Kong residents, has no fixed term or a capital redemption bond with a fixed term of 99 years. If investors choose the life insurance version, it pays a cash sum upon death. Investors can choose from a large range of funds.
