Standard Life had finalised the restructure of its executive team, including the appointment of two new members.
Christian Torkington will join on 1 March 2010 from RSA Insurance Group as group information and operations director, heading up the firm's technology strategy.
Sandy Begbie, previously at Aegon, moves to become group transformation director, working across the company alongside chief executive David Nish to lead the group's transformation plan.
Nathan Parnaby, currently chief executive of Standard Life Europe, will also assume executive responsibility for the group's Asian businesses.
The latest reshuffle follows David Nish's appointment as chief executive on 1 January 2010.
With the "right people in the right place" Standard Life will now focus on the UK arm of its buiness, including the processes and policies needed to make it a client-centric operation for customers and advisers, according to a company spokesperson.
Nish says: "I'm delighted to be able to announce such a strong management team, who will together drive the transformation of Standard Life.
"Our priority is to develop a growth strategy that will allow us to accelerate the performance of Standard Life and today's announcement marks the first step in our journey.
"I'm particularly pleased to welcome Christian and Sandy to our company, whose talent and expertise will further strengthen our executive team and help to position us well for future success."
Nish will make his first address to the market on 10 March, when the company announces its preliminary results and he is expected to give more detail on the "next level" of the group's "transformation".
