Impax and FTSE in green index launch

Impax Group, an AIM-listed specialist environmental investment company, and the FTSE Group are launching a new index to cover companies in the environmental sector.

The new FTSE Environmental Opportunities All-Share Index will be comprised of some 450 companies in areas such as: alternative energy, energy efficiency, water treatment, pollution control, waste technologies and resources management. Companies must demonstrate that a minimum of 20% of their business comes from environmental markets or technologies in order to be included on the new index, Impax said.
