Tim Steer will manage Artemis' UK Growth Fund shortly after he joins the company at the end of June this year.
The fund's current manager Adrian Paterson will join the management team of John Dodd's Artemis Alpha investment trust.
Artemis confirmed New Star UK Alpha fund manager Steer would join them after leaving his employer when it completes its merger with Henderson in April.
As well as the UK Growth vehicle he will run a UK hedge fund from Artemis' London office.
Artemis chief executive Mark Tyndall said: "I am delighted that Tim is joining us. His pragmatic and flexible approach to investing will provide benefits for clients as well as an additional intellectual input to the multi-cap team."IFAonline
