Fidelity International has poached Morgan Stanley investment veteran Dermott Whelan to run its European equity multimanager portfolios.
Whelan, set to join the firm in March, previously spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley where he built up extensive market knowledge across equity, fixed income, long-only fund selection, hedge funds and private equity.
He has over 12 years of investment management experience, is a qualified accountant and became an associate member of the Institute of Investment Management and Research in 1999.
His recruitment follows the hiring in September last year of Eugene Philalithis, a fixed income specialist, and the internal promotion of Geraldine Stewart to head of investment for the Fidelity multimanager business.
Stewart says: “We are delighted to welcome Dermott to Fidelity. He has long experience and deep knowledge across a number of asset classes, and success as both a private client portfolio manager and fund of funds manager with one of the world’s leading investment organisations, will further strengthen our team of investment professionals.”
