Impax Asset Management will boost its Green fund range by launching a new Environmental Leaders offering.
Available on Cofunds from 3 March, the IFSL Impax Environmental Leaders fund will invest in global companies developing products and services to mitigate and solve some of the world's most pressing ecological problems.
The fund will be managed by the Impax team – Ian Simm, Bruce Jenkyn-Jones and Simon Gottelier.
It will focus on three key environmental sub-sectors:
- Alternative energy and energy efficiency
- Water treatment and pollution control
- Waste technologies and resource management
Unlike current Impax offerings, the Environmental Leaders fund only invests in quoted companies with a minimum $500m market cap. The companies must also derive at least 20% of revenues from or have at least 20% of capital invested in the environmental sector.
“The (environmental) investment universe, previously the domain of small technology start-ups, is now a rapidly developing area of the global economy with spectacular growth prospects,” Impax CEO Ian Simm says.
“Given the current volatility of markets, a greater focus on larger companies is timely as it enables us to manage a fund which is more flexible in its investment approach."
The fund has a £1,000 minimum investment, 5% initial charge and 1.5% annual management charge.
