An online share dealing service called iDealing.com has been launched this week, charging £10 a trade, irrespective of its size.
The service is particularly beneficial to investors who invest large amounts and who have frequently been charged up to 1% of the value of the trade. The execution-only service aims to remove much of the overcharging in online dealing.
It offers real time transactions and costs £500 to open an account. The rate of interest paid on cash held in the account will be at the Royal Bank of Scotland's base rate minus 1%.
There is access to more than 1,300 UK stocks and a portfolio analysis tool keeps track of performance.
