UBS Asset Management is to launch its UK Smaller Companies trust, managed by Frank Manduca, on 14 February.
The fund will be benchmarked against the Hoare Govett index and is likely to hold more than 100 stocks, said Tristan Mawdsley, sales manager at UBS Asset Management.
Manduca joined UBS Asset management on 16 September after almost 17 years investment management experience, the majority of which was at Gartmore. During his tenure at Gartmore he was lead manager on the Gartmore Smaller Companies fund.
He will work with a long-established team at UBS which has more than a ten year track record on the institutional side. This team has significantly outperformed the FTSE small cap index by 41.2% over five years and 83.5% over 10 years.
'The real appeal of this fund will be the synergy between Frank's long-term out performance track record with a more growth orientated background, and the existing team's excellent track record with our price/intrinsic value philosophy,' Mawdsley said.
