The board of Canada Life has told shareholders to reject a takeover offer by rival Canadian insurer Manulife, saying the C$6.4bn offer was too low. Canada Life's 60,000 UK and Ireland shareholders have been offered the sterling or euro equivalent of C$40 in cash, or 1.055 Manulife shares for every Canada Life shares they hold.
