The FSA is running a series of workshops designed to help IFAs and product providers understand and implement the new Training and Competence requirements.
The requirements come into effect at N2 and the workshops will focus on how the requirements effect IFAs and product providers differently.
Originally six workshops were planned for IFAs but demand has seen that number increased to 12. They will cover the application of the requirements to IFA firms regulated by the PIA and will be held at different centres around the country between July and October.
The workshop will enable the IFAs to work with the regulator through topics such as the FSA's approach to T&C and supervision; contrasting current PIA requirements with those coming in place at N", and how to apply the new rules in the workplace.
It will be practically based and presented by the FSA staff who developed the T&C regime.
Similar workshops will be run for product providers. They will cover the application of the requirements for those firms regulated by the PIA, particularly Life Offices and Friendly Societies. It will focus on transition arrangements, the philosophy underlying the new approach and who will be included.
In addition to these workshops, the FSA plans to run other workshops on T&C administrative functions, and later in the year similar gatherings for IMRO and SFO firms.
