mike ross, chief executive of scottish widows, to give keynote speech
Scottish Widows chief executive Mike Ross will be one of the keynote speakers at this year's State of the Nation Conference on 2 October. Ross will look at how the industry, IFAs and providers alike, can work together to build partnerships and restore customer confidence, at a time when the economic outlook and many financial indicators appear contrary.
Building your business and developing better relationships with product providers is the theme of this year's conference.
The one-day event, at the QE II Conference Centre opposite the Houses of Parliament in London, will see 600-700 IFAs gather to discuss key issues with 10 leading product providers.
Among the confirmed speaker companies to date are Fidelity, HSBC Asset Management, Abbey National for IFAs, DWS Investments, Birmingham Midshires Solutions, Merrill Lynch and Isis.
The event breaks down into a series of main speeches, in which the groups will discuss the main issues faced by IFAs and some possible solutions, as well as smaller workshop sessions.
Tim Weller, chief executive of Incisive Media, the publisher of Investment Week, and organiser of the event, said: 'The key theme for this year's event is one of partnership. In an era when the industry is very much under the spotlight of consumers, consumer groups and the regulators, it is vital providers and advisers work more closely together.
'We hope the conference will highlight areas where the two sides can work together to each other's benefit.'
There is also an exhibition area where the delegates have the opportunity to meet representatives of the sponsors and discuss individual business issues.
Delegates can also arrange private meetings for the day in a separate 'quiet' area at the venue with the sponsoring firms.
The event is free for all IFAs and includes comprehensive conference notes and research materials, plus free refreshments including lunch all day.
