Chris Poil, head of UK equities at Baring Asset Management, has left the group along with Mark Latham, who ran the group's Global Resource and World Opportunities funds.
Investment Week understands the pair are looking to join start-up ventures and Latham may be looking to establish a hedge fund.
Richard Buxton, fund manager of the frAAA UK Growth trust, will take over Poil's role on the UK team. Buxton has been with the UK desk since joining the group in 1990. Barings has recently hired two new specialist analysts for the UK team and following Poil's departure is looking to add another analyst and a senior fund manager to the team.
Latham will be replaced on the World Opportunities fund by Louis Bernstone, a technology specialist on the European investment team. World Opportunities is a Luxembourg-based investment company.
On the Resource fund, John Payne will take over the management with Jim Baird filling in as back up manager. Payne has been with Barings for seven years, six of which he has been based in Asia, specialising in the group's Australia and pan-Asian funds. Baird, who will remain based in Boston, continues to head up the group's Global resources sector.
Annabel Holmes, head of marketing operations at Barings on the fund promotion side, has also left the group.
