Two years after starting up the JPMorgan Fleming European Style fund has achieved €1bn of assets under management, which the company says is a result of its barbell approach.
Such an approach has been questioned by some fund analysts, particularly after the growth end of tech stock heavy funds suffered severe losses during 2000 and 2001.
However, JPMF says "style investing is a driver of fund selection just as much as sector and geography...[giving] opportunity to...favour either growth or value depending on the stock market cycle."
It adds that paying particular attention to unfashionable value stocks during early 2000 since paid significant dividends, helping the fund outperform the benchmark FTSE World Europe index by 40% during the past two years.
