DBS is launching a nationwide Training & Competence programme in April designed to update its members on marketplace and associated product changes.
It is a regulatory requirement following N2 that investment advisers demonstrate that they keep up-to-date with key product and market developments, so DBS' new T&C programme will include roadshows, technical seminars, provider workshops and computer-based learning covering three financial planning themes for the next year.
Each roadshow campaign will be sponsored by 10 product providers to last three months, the first campaign being 'At Retirement and Beyond', followed by 'Wealth Management' in September 2002 and 'Building and Preserving Wealth' in January 2003.
A series of 20 nationwide Retirement seminars, which will be launched in Fareham on April 9, aim to look at:
drawing income from retirement funds;
traditional and new breed annuities;
investment portfolio planning in retirement;
the growing need for equity release;
protection provision beyond retirement.
Two technical seminars focusing on different issues will also be hosted after the roadshows at 27 locations to give members a chance to further develop their understanding of the issues raised.
