Aberdeen Asset Managers has added two more managers to its UK equity team, writes James Thorneley.
Charles Luke has joined from Framlington and Matthew Robertson has joined from Hill Samuel Asset Management. Luke has experience in small and mid-cap equities in addition to running UK income portfolios. while Robertson's expertise is based around large cap equities.
Aberdeen's UK equity team forms three units to cover large caps, middle-sized and smaller companies and equity income portfolios.
These are led by senior fund managers John Thornton, Simon Atherton and Neil Cumming, respectively
Some existing members of the team belong to two units. Thornton, head of UK equities, anticipated that Luke would work closely with Atherton and Cumming while Robertson would assist Thornton in running large cap portfolios.
Thornton added that the team has already begun working closely with Diane Wilde and Ross Watson who work in the group's Glasgow office.
Wilde and Watson recently joined Aberdeen from Gartmore and are involved in managing the group's split capital investment trusts.
