When it comes to admitting who really takes control of the day-to-day finances in the home, it seems that both husbands and wives are scrambling to get their services noticed, according to research by Citibank Premium Banking.
When Citibank posed the question to around 1000 British adults, 2/3 of married men claimed they were responsible for managing the daily household finances as did 2/3 of the married women surveyed.
Less of a surprise is the fact that fewer husbands were willing to reveal that their wives were in charge of finances. In fact, while 22% of women admitted their husbands looked after the money, only 19% of men were willing to confess that their wives held the purse strings.
