HM Customs & Excise has issued a reminder notice to owners of businesses with taxable income of more than £56,000, noting that the deadline for registering for VAT is just four weeks away on 30 September. Those that do not register within the period will see Customs & Excise "crack down hard" on tax arrears for whatever length of time the agency considers companies "should have been registered for VAT". Those considering registering should call 0845-010-9000, or visit www.hmce.gov
