BARING Asset Management (Barings) has applied for distributor status for its range of three multi-asset fund of funds portfolios, making them more appealing to the UK market.
The portfolios are the Extended Risk fund, the Optimum Risk fund and the Reduced Risk fund. Minimum investment in the three funds is £5,000. Distributor status would make the funds more attractive to UK domiciled clients as any gains are taxed as capital gains rather than income. Barings said the funds, originally launched as Dublin domiciled qualifying investor funds in November 2004, have returned 14.7pc (Extended Risk), 11pc (Optimum Risk) and 6.7pc (Reduced Risk) annualised since inception to February 28 2007.
