Pensions and IHT behind 'sharp rise in demand for financial advice'

There has been a sharp rise in demand for financial advice over the past 12 months, according to accountants, who claimed people have become more aware of pensions and inheritance tax planning.

A survey by Investec Wealth & Investment found more than a third of accountants had experienced an increase in demand for advice about finance during the last 12 months, predominantly on pensions and inheritance tax planning. Around 40% of the queries related specifically to income and capital gains tax on investments, windfalls and potential investment opportunities, the accountants said.
