New chairman for Manchester IFP branch

The Manchester branch of the Institute of Financial Planning (IFP) has appointed the owner of Smart Financial Planning as its new chairman.

Steve Martin, a director at the Altrincham-based firm, will replace Andrew Taylor of TFP Wealth Management. He will oversee the branch, which is the second largest in the country covering North Wales and the North West with 250 members including Grant Thorton, Deloittes, and BDO. In the role, he plans to raise the profile of the industry and encourage more financial planners to qualify for Certified Financial Planner status.
