On platforms that do not pre-fund, time out of the market can be exactly what investors face. According to research conducted by the lang cat and shared exclusively with Professional Adviser, a £250,000 fund switch (assuming markets are rising at 7% per year) can cost an investor as much as £192 if done via a platform that does not pre-fund for rebalancing. That is because it may take as long as four days for the switch to be processed, all while markets are continuing on their merry way.
