Scottish Widows is planning to automatically contract some of its direct customers back into the State Second Pension (S2P) unless they actively choose otherwise.
Around 7,500 customers, who are all over 50, will be chosen to be automatically contracted back in, as they are particularly likely to lose out financially if they remain contracted-out, however, Scottish Widows will give them the opportunity to remain contracted-out if they prefer. All of these customers will receive two letters from the company informing them of the intention before any action is taken, and no customer who is known to have an IFA will be contracted back in without a positive instruction.
