UK investors manage debt more than investments - survey

Britons do appear to be more concerned with sorting out or managing their debts than with investing, suggests research published by Insight Investment.

A survey of over 1900 people by YouGov for Insight reveals while three quarters of investors know they can transfer their Pep and Isa investments, only 12% has actually done so. Moreover, one in five mortgage holders have switched to another company in the last five years to improve their debt position with that figure rising to almost two in five (39%) in the 30-50 age bracket. While Insight recognises people are now more actively managing their debts, the investment house says the evidence suggests they are not managing their portfolios in line with changing needs.
