Berkeley Burke director Gareth Roberts, who was in charge of implementing Retail Distribution Review (RDR) rules in the firm's wealth management division, has left the firm.

Roberts, who joined Berkeley Burke in 2004 and was appointed director in 2005, sat on the boards of the Berkeley Burke regulated group of companies. Berkeley Burke said it did not want to discuss Roberts' exit. His departure comes at a difficult time for the company. Its self invested personal pension (SIPP) arm, Berkeley Burke SIPP Administration, was last month found liable by the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for the loss of a man's pension assets transferred into high risk investments.
