The fund selection and fund research markets are a major part of the multi-trillion pound investment industry but who are the key players within it?
In the latest of our series of video interviews with the most respected individuals who select funds, decide ratings or otherwise influence the allocation of investor fund flows, we meet Andrew Summers, head of fund research at Investec Wealth & Investment.
In this role, Summers is responsible for the team that covers collectives research, incorporating Investec Wealth & Investment's UK and international businesses. A Chartered Financial Analyst, he is also involved in asset allocation and portfolio management for a number of the firm's business units.
After graduating from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, Summers spent nine years at Goldman Sachs, latterly in the firm's offshore fund product development team. He joined Investec in 2006 as a product specialist before becoming head of fund research in 2007.
The Investment Influencers series, which has most recently featured Simon Brett of Parmenion, Lucy Walker of Sarasin & Partners and Rob Gleeson of FE, offers insights into how key industry players see the world of investing and expect to deal with such challenges as greater market volatility, increased regulation and a growing trend towards short-termism.

Professional Adviser is now delighted to announce Allianz Global Investors' decision to partner with the magazine to support the Investment Influencers series.
"In the constantly evolving market for investment product selection, the insights and guidance from the Investment Influencers is more valuable than ever and being part of promoting this insight further is key to our business goals," said a spokesperson for the company. "We believe, in working with Professional Adviser, we can help to improve the content further and promote Allianz Global Investors as a key supporter of the industry."
