Save more, avoid debt and do not lend money you cannot afford to lose are the three top pieces of advice offered by older generations when it comes to finances, according to research from Just Retirement. The retirement income specialist asked 1,200 people aged between 40 and 65 for their views on financial 'advice'. It spilt the respondents into three groups  - people in their 40s, those aged between 40 and 45 and the over 65s.
