Of all the elements advisers need to do their job well, one has emerged from a place of obscurity to offer crucial help in getting things right for clients, writes James Street

It was put to me recently that one of the most useful tools available to financial advisers isn't considered a tool at all. In fact, they posited, given its abundance, it may be considered a nuisance. I'm referring to data. Or, better, data-driven content. Between providers like us, consultancies, the national and trade media, even regulators, there is no shortage of data-driven content available to anybody working in financial services, advisers included.
