Discretionary fund manager Beaufort Investment has promoted portfolio construction and research head Shane Balkham to CIO.

Balkham was responsible for establishing the firm's model portfolios in 2004, originally called EQUIP. Replacing Balkham as head of fund research is Emma Clarke, who joined the firm in 2016 from Mazars as a senior investment analyst. Paul Freedman and Cormac Nevin are also joining as investment analysts from Charles Stanley Wealth Management and Red Deer, respectively.
