Ex-Honister adviser sentenced to 18 months in prison

A former Honister Partners adviser charged with evading tax was sentenced to 18 month's imprisonment today following a case brought by Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

The case was heard at Worcester Crown court. The adviser, David Douglass, 45, from Silver Birch Drive, Hollywood, Worcestershire was charged with cheating the public revenue contrary to common law. He evaded tax estimated to be £370,000. The case was initially heard by Redditch Magistrates Court last December following an investigation by HMRC, and Douglass pleaded guilty on 11 February this year. Douglass worked for Honister Partners, formally Bates, between March 2006 and July last year. He previously worked for Berry Birch & Noble Financial Planning.
