In a vigorous response to Chancellor George Osborne's 2013 Budget, leader of the opposition Ed Miliband branded it as "a downgraded Budget from a downgraded Chancellor".
Following Osborne's delivery of the Budget, Milliband's opposition speech focused on the Chancellor's macro-economic record. He said: "Growth for last year was down on expectations, this year it is down, next year it is down, and 2015, surprise, surprise, it is down. "In June 2010 the Chancellor promised a steady and sustained recovery, but he was wrong. We have had the slowest period of growth for 100 years. "Wages are flat, prices are higher and families are squeezed. The Office of Budget Responsibility has said that families will be worse off in 2015 than they were in 2010. ...
