WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has pledged to reveal 2,000 individuals and companies guilty of some of the $20trn of offshore tax avoidance, after a Swiss whistleblower handed him a list today.
Rudolf Elmer, the accountant who blew the whistle on the conduct of Julius Baer Bank in the Cayman Islands for which he is set to stand trial in Switzerland in two days, has said he will not name names. But in taking receipt of the two CDs containing the list, Assange told a press briefing at the Frontline Club that WikiLeaks would publish the names on its site once the data has been analysed, which could be in a matter of weeks.
