Adviser anger over Abbey Life automatic annuity purchase

An IFA is fighting to get a client's money back after Abbey Life automatically annuitised their pension pot without their knowledge.

David Cocking, IFA at Aspen Wealth Management, said he has contacted Abbey Life repeatedly to try to get the action reversed but the pension provider has said it could take up to eight weeks to resolve the complaint. "Abbey Life has set him up on a single life annuity, ignoring my joint life annuity requests. I wrote a letter on Friday giving all the details on why I didn't think they were treating the customer fairly.
