Our Armchair Critic Brendan Llewellyn recently canvassed the thoughts of 250-odd advisers and tapped into some instructive thinking on what clients value, regulatory 'support' and how much disclosure is too much

So what do clients value from their adviser? Estimations as to the value of advice have tended to look at outcomes for advised versus non-advised investors. These studies are fraught with ambiguities - or, to put it another way, full of holes. Are the cohorts of advised and non-advised clients comparable or are the advised clients more likely, for example, to appreciate the need for a plan.
