While the FCA's direction of travel on platforms now looks quite clear, there is plenty of detail to emerge - but that has not deterred Ben Cocks from speculating on how the regulator's proposed measures will turn out

Predicting the outcome of the FCA's platform study - at least in broad terms - is not that hard at this stage. While the interim report was a broad review of how well platforms serve the end-investor, the report for the final consultation was much narrower and focused exclusively on how to make it easier for investors to switch platform. The regulator's direction of travel is now quite clear - it wants more competition and that will come about through investors voting with their feet.
