While China undoubtedly offers long-term investment opportunities - especially for businesses that can tap into its potential as a vast consumer market - Jason Hollands warns there are also plenty of reasons for caution

Saturday 28 January is Chinese New Year and the start of the Year of the Fire Rooster, according to the Chinese zodiac. The last year of the Fire Rooster fell in 1957 - a year that saw the formation of the European Economic Community through the Treaty of Rome (ironic perhaps when some argue the coming year may see an existential crisis for the EU).
