Spring Statement 25: No tax changes for advisers

‘This statement does not contain any further tax increases’

Chancellor Rachel Reeves did not outline tax increases in her Spring Statement today (26 March).

Speaking in the House of Commons, Reeves said there would be no tax increases within the Statement, but she revealed plans to challenge fraudsters. As promised in the Autumn Budget, Reeves said "this statement does not contain any further tax increases". She also said she has restored "in full our headroom against the ‘stability rule'" through spending cuts rather than raising taxes and that the government will be running a surplus of £9.9bn by 2029-30.
