Advisers sound positive note on LTA changes but flag need for support

Close to two thirds (65%) of advisers feel positive about changes to the lifetime allowance (LTA), believing clients will ultimately feel the benefit, a new study finds.

Research agency Opinium today (2 April) said that while advisers are positive on the whole, 22% still feel ‘stressed' ahead of moving to a post-LTA environment. The removal of the LTA – the maximum amount that an individual can contribute to their pension pot without triggering a tax charge – was announced last March in the 2023 Spring Budget and reconfirmed in the government's 2023 Autumn Statement documents back in November.
