Spouses using different advisers can often cause difficulties

Servicing clients whose spouse or partner has a different adviser makes the planning process more difficult, advisers agree.

Adviser respondents to last week's PA Asks poll were asked to share whether or not they worked with clients who had a partner or spouse who saw another adviser instead. While the majority (56%) of advisers told Professional Adviser that they are not currently in that situation, 37% signalled that they were. One said they "only have a few" clients in the situation, adding: "It's not ideal". "It makes planning quite difficult," shared another. "Especially regarding inheritance tax and the like."
