Many LGBT couples face both private IVF and surrogacy costs

Same-sex couples are “disproportionately” affected by costly expenses that need to be factored into their financial goals and planning, according to St James Place (SJP).

The wealth manager has said that same-sex couples are more likely to be impacted by different mental health and wellbeing challenges and often face higher costs when it comes to financial planning, compared to their heterosexual counterparts. "As a same-sex couple, having a family is often more expensive. Whether you go down the in vitro fertilisation (IVF) or the surrogacy route, you have to factor this into your financial goals and planning," SJP LGBTQ+ network chair Emma Palethorpe said.
