London to hold international FinTech conference in 2017

London is to host an international FinTech conference next spring in an attempt to attract investment into the sector, economic secretary to the Treasury Simon Kirby told the Tech & FinTech Expo today.

The conference, which is due to take place in April 2017, is set to become an annual event, according to Kirby, who said he was lucky to inherit an industry "in such rude health". He told the expo's audience: "The government is determined that London stays at the cutting edge of financial innovation and that is why we will host a new, annual fintech conference to boost capital investment in one of our fastest growing sectors."
