Social media used most commonly to attract new clients

Advisers are engaging more and more in social media, according to the third annual social media usage survey by software provider Intelliflo.

The firm's research found three-fifths (60%) of the 143 advisers surveyed actively use LinkedIn, an increase on 2015 when just over half (53%) used the professional networking site. In all, however, almost three-quarters (70%) of advisers are involved in some form of social media activity for business purposes. In 2014, by way of comparison, research from Intelliflo found only a quarter (25%) of advisory firms operated a social media policy for their staff.  More advisers are using Facebook's wide-ranging features with more than one-third (36%) using it in 2016, compared to one-quart...
