Revealed: The investment trust winners and laggards in April

Miners lead the way

The recent recovery in the mining sector extended into April, with commodity trusts among the best performers for the month, according to QuotedData's latest report.

Polo Resources and BlackRock World Mining were among the best performing funds, returning 28.4% and 14.6% respectively in share price terms, with the latter also reporting an NAV rise of 16.2%. Golden Prospect Precious Metals and BlackRock Commodities Income were also up 25.6% and 12.3% in NAV terms, followed by City Natural Resources (11.6%) and Baker Steel Resources (7.5%). Meanwhile, other natural resources funds Blue Planet, Lead Clean Energy and Geiger Counter were all up between 10% and 14% in April in share price terms.
