Tracey McDermott says FCA top job 'not right for me', withdraws from running

Acting Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) chief executive Tracey McDermott has ruled out stepping into the position full time.

McDermott (pictured) took over he running of the regulator after Martin Wheatley left in September. She was tipped as the likely successor in a Sunday Times article over the weekend. But the FCA has since issued a statement from McDermott in which she said she has decided against running for the top job. McDermott made the decision in early December, it said. The Treasury-led recruitment process is ongoing and McDermott will continue as acting chief executive until a permanent replacement is in post.
